Travelling By Air
There are no roads to Nunavut, and air travel is by far the most common means of transportation. Regularly scheduled flights depart from Ottawa, Ontario, the capital city of Canada. Ottawa can easily be reached from any major centre in the world.
YAB airport is located 5.6 km southeast of Arctic Bay. Previously the community was served by the Nanisivik Airport located 27 kilometres away.
Travelling By Sea
When seaways are open, cruise ships can be seen pulling into its sheltered harbour. Yachts also find this an ideal spot to moor during the summer. By boat, travellers may spot wildlife like whales, narwhals, and polar bears.
